When In Rome

Language Warning

The things I’ve seen,
the places I’ve been.
I grow sick,
by the thought,
of being clean.

It burns red.
Hotter than coals.
The minds it’s mixed,
of the lives it sold.

I tried to get by,
but I’m trying to hide.
She asked me if I’m worried,
I don’t see why.
I keep digging in the dirt,
the early bird gets the worm.
It’s the only way for me to be whole.

I had a damn good time,
yelling through the,
screens of America.

Eating at your,
chain restaurants.
As you flip through,
the media.

And when the news cycle changes.
You’ll be greeted with a smile.
Can you see it?

I had a good fucking time,
yelling, “shut up America!”
They heard me down in Georgia,
and greeted me in a proscenium.

They keep eating my lies,
as I give a cold harsh smile.
This is the Roman empire burning.
