Saralynn Draper: Stage 1

This transcript follows closely to the termination of the psychological evaluations of five individuals who worked at South Tech labs. All participants in the wake of Project Sacrosanct are under close evaluation by trained professionals. The purpose of releasing these transcripts is to bring to light of the Corruption Cycle to the public and to help build legislation to protect those who suffer from the Corruption Cycle. At no point will these individuals be released into the public until public awareness has been fulfilled. The transcript follows:

The subjects name is Gemma Andrews. She is female and is in her mid forties. Gemma is a foreigner on a work visa. Her cycle seems to be behind everyone else’s but for now we will assume she is at stage 3. When exposure is at a minimum of 8 hours, subjects show signs of cacoethes for things they did not crave and uncontrollable mania. Subjects state that they hear voices and others seem to have multiple personalities. Subjects may be mentally fragile and anger easily. The pupils of the subjects become enlarged and remain that way no matter of the sensory input or thoughts of the subject. They no longer react to light. Suits are no longer required for containment.

Dr. Stanton: Hello Gemma how are you?

Gemma: I think this whole Corruption Cycle is starting to get to me.

Dr. Stanton: How so?

Gemma: I’m getting these voices. Others have been talking about their voices for a long time now. They…they are demeaning me.

Dr. Stanton: The things they are telling you are demeaning?

Gemma: Yes.

Dr. Stanton: Any examples you would like to share?

Gemma: There’s a lot of stuff you don’t know about me. I can tell you but it’s a story.

Dr. Stanton: Tell you what. I’m going to need to take some vitals and some blood. You can tell your story if I can do that, okay?

Gemma: Okay.

*Dr. Stanton gets some medical equipment and moves around the room.*

Gemma: When I was in college I was not who I am today. I partied a lot. Didn’t know what or why I was there. I slept with a lot of people. Drank a lot. I got several abortions and one time…I killed someone.

Dr. Stanton: And these voices are bringing your skeletons back? This’ll sting.

Gemma: Ya—ouch—the voices are telling me I’m not good enough. That I don’t deserve my children. My husband. My life. They say I’m being punished for my sins.

Dr. Stanton: Do you believe them?

Gemma: Sometimes. I feel this whole scenario is my fate catching up with me. My mother remarked that I was a horrible daughter growing up. I turned it around for so long but this…this might be the end of me.

Dr. Stanton: We’re working on a cure. We’re hoping that the other team will figure out the Corruption Cycle. How it works, what can be done. This is not the end.

Gemma: But I’ll most likely have to deal with this for the rest of my life right?

Dr. Stanton: We don’t know. Maybe. Maybe not.

Gemma: Yeah. That’s what I thought…

Dr. Stanton: Looks like your heterochromia is still prevalent. As you saw with the others, people effected are getting black eyes. Both of your eyes are black but one has like a gray or silver halo…

Gemma: Did you think something like that would happen?

Dr. Stanton: I wasn’t sure what was going to happen at all.

Gemma: What’s Heädrow?

Dr. Stanton: Did That come up in your reading?

Gemma: I heard the other team talk about it. That ——— and ——— healed those with Heädrow. Never heard of it.

Dr. Stanton: It’s nothing today unless it got renamed. I’ll have to look into it. Can you get on this scale?

*Gemma doesn’t move or acknowledge Dr. Stanton.*

Dr. Stanton: Gemma?

Gemma: Yes Doctor?

Dr. Stanton: Are you okay?

Gemma: These voices are tenacious.

Dr. Stanton: I’m sorry. I need to get your weight.

*Gemma gets up and goes to the scale*

Dr. Stanton: What are the voices saying.

Gemma: The usual. Don’t deserve anything other than what’s happening right now. Is there nothing you can do?

Dr. Stanton: I think the medical team is getting together some prescriptions but…it’s most likely going to be ineffective.

Gemma: most medications take weeks to get their full effect.

Dr. Stanton: Yeah.

Gemma: Okay. Is there any coming back from this?

Dr. Stanton: You knew the risks when you applied.

Gemma: They didn’t really make this whole thing sound as severe as it is.

Dr. Stanton: I’m sorry Gemma.

Gemma: It’s not your fault. You weren’t there when they picked applicants. You couldn’t have known. I’m ready to head back.

Dr. Stanton: Alright. You’re free to go.

*Gemma leaves*

Dr. Stanton: Gemma was normally very optimistic. Today she is down. The Corruption Cycle seems to take a toll on everyone no matter where or who you are. This illness doesn’t discriminate against anyone or anything. I just hope we can find a cure.
